HRES Science Fair 2016

Dear HRES Students, Parents, and Teachers :

We are pleased to announce the Highland Ranch Science Fair and Exhibition, to be held on Friday, March 18th, 2016, 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the MPR. Get ready and register ONLINE! 
CLICK HERE to complete the student form. 

All students are invited to participate and all families are invited to attend the event! Students may work on an individual project, or work with a partner or small group to plan, conduct, and present the findings of a science investigation and/or experiment. Students may also choose to exhibit a science collection (e.g. rocks) or other project that communicates what they know about their subject to the audience.


Please plan accordingly, by completing the online registration as soon as possible and NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, MARCH 4th!


How to Get Started: Don’t wait! Start now by reading RULES from “Important Links” section of blog, getting teacher and parent approval, and taking advantage of resources such as the school library, your teachers, and your parents to help brainstorm project ideas. Grade specific suggestions, helpful web-links, suggestions for parent support and other important information available here at the HRES Science Fair Blog.


Students: Choose a topic that is truly interesting to you! The work must be SAFE, so parents are required to supervise and monitor any safety hazards. Parents are encouraged to help you, but you should be doing most of the work. Just do your best and have fun.

We are pleased to announce the Highland Ranch Science Fair and Exhibition, to be held on Friday, March 16th, 2012, 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the MPR. This year, we will have guest scientists from UCSD Neurosciences, and engineers from SPAWAR, and General Atomics.

All students are invited to participate and all families are invited to attend the event! Students may work on an individual project, or work with a partner or small group (for younger students) to plan, conduct, and present the findings of a science investigation and/or experiment. Students may also choose to exhibit a science collection (e.g. rocks) or other project that communicates what they know about their subject to the audience.

Projects must be approved by classroom teacher and Science Fair Chair. Please plan accordingly, by submitting the Student Entry Form as soon as possible and NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, MARCH 9th!

Science Fair Schedule

Wow! The science fair and exhibition is tomorrow!! Her is a quick overview of the schedule:

DROP OFF PRESENTATION BOARDS BEFORE SCHOOL!

4:30 pm-- Doors Open!

(all students should be at their boards for at least 30 minutes)

Kindergarten and First Grade 5:00-5:30
Second Grade 5:30-6:00
Third Grade 6:00-6:30
Fourth and Fifth Grade 6:30-7:00

Photosynthesis Puppet Show (in Library): Five Performances,
5:00, 5:30, 6:30, 6:45, 7:00

Ongoing, 4:30-7:30
Project Wildlife (in Room 13)
I Love a Clean San Diego (outside)
SD Herpetological Society (MPR)
Scripps Institution of Oceanography (MPR)
Pinecone Bird Feeder--Make it and Take it! (Lunch area)

7:30--Event is over. Take home your projects! Awards will be attached to presentation boards. Please make sure you take everything home with you, but don't dismantle your display until 7:30. Thank you!!!

All students are invited to participate and all families are invited to attend the event! Students may work on an individual project, or work with a partner or small group (for younger students) to plan, conduct, and present the findings of a science investigation and/or experiment. Students may also choose to exhibit a science collection (e.g. rocks) or other project that communicates what they know about their subject to the audience.
